THE DOCTORS RETURN FROM HAITI AND AIR FULL HOUR OF DRAMATIC FOOTAGE OF THEIR MEDICAL RELIEF EFFORTS IN HAITI, JANUARY 29

“The amount of care people need, and it’s been over 2 weeks now, is overwhelming.” -  Dr. Sears

On Friday, January 29, THE DOCTORS, from Stage 29 Productions and CBS Television Distribution, will air an episode entirely devoted to their trip to Haiti to provide medical relief to those injured in the devastating earthquake that struck on January 12th.

On January 24, ER Physician Dr. Travis Stork, OB-GYN Dr. Lisa Masterson, plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon, and renowned pediatrician Dr. James Sears, arrived in Haiti with over seven thousand pounds of much-needed medical supplies, specifically requested by aid organizations.  Joining the doctors on their mission was executive producer Jay McGraw, and his brother, Jordan.  Jay McGraw states, “We knew this is where our doctors needed to be and we feel privileged to have a platform to convey to our viewers the enormous amount of aid that Haiti will need in the coming months and years.”

Immediately upon arriving at a make-shift clinic set up at the Haiti airport, the doctors were told by an attending physician that they would feel like residents again and be asked to do everything and anything, which indeed was the case.  Some of the intense footage shown in Friday’s episode include Dr. Stork treating a young girl, approximately 18 months old, who needed to have her leg amputated because of severe infection, Dr. Ordon treating a man with severe burns all over his body as a result of an explosion that occurred during the earthquake, and Dr. Sears treating kids with severe wounds that still needed to be dressed.   One of the most dramatic moments of the show occurs when Dr. Masterson examines a very pregnant woman with spiked blood pressure who had to get to a hospital immediately.

“The operating conditions were very basic, but the patients were so grateful to receive care,” states Dr. Ordon.   “In my entire medical career, I have never felt that my skills were put to better use.”

Additional footage from the Doctors’ trip to Haiti will air on Tuesday, February 2nd.
