April 1, 2009 (Los Angeles, CA) THE DOCTORS, television’s fastest growing talk show and the # 1 new syndicated series, received the Crystal Cross Humanitarian Award from the American Red Cross at their annual Red Tie Affair fundraiser gala held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Fairmount Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica. At the gala, The American Red Cross honors an outstanding television show and the humanitarian spirit of extraordinary individuals who have shown courage, compassion, and unselfish character.
John Pacheco, CEO for the Red Cross of Santa Monica states, “This is the first year we have chosen to honor a talk show or a daytime show, which is exciting because we all feel strongly that THE DOCTORS is most deserving as it inspires, motivates, and educates people everywhere not just once a week, but every week day.”
Jay McGraw, creator and executive producer of THE DOCTORS, joined the show’s hosts, Dr. Travis Stork, Dr. Lisa Masterson, Dr. Jim Sears, and Dr. Andrew Ordon to accept the award. “All of us at THE DOCTORS are extremely honored to be recognized by the Red Cross organization,” states McGraw. “Our main reason for doing the show is to educate and inspire our viewers to live healthier lives. Our continuing growth in the ratings tells us people are hungry for medical information, and to be recognized by the Red Cross during our first season is a responsibility we will not take lightly.”
